Crescent Lake Hike Pictures

Crescent Lake is located out past Girdwood near Kenai Lake. The trail is about 6 1/2 miles long. Once you get past the first mile or so, the scenery is beautiful. We stopped to eat lunch where the trail went right beside the river, and maybe the rock Tyler threw is still on the boulder in the river. In about another mile you cross the river on a large steel bridge, but we didn't get a picture of it.

Tyler fell into what we have named "Tyler Turtle Creek." It looked really funny. The hike took us a couple hours, but we made it to the cabin where we set up the tents, and then went fishing. Steven caught the first and only fish of the day, an 18-inch Grayling.

After fishing, everybody had dinner. When the boys finished with dinner, they started to play hide-and-go-seek tag. Mr. Haugh and Hunter even wanted to play. We got tired after a while, so Mr. McGimsey read everybody a poem by Robert Service, then sent us off to bed.

In the morning, we got up, had breakfast, packed up and left. We smiled for the camera on one of the bridges nearest the cabin, and then started walking. We stopped for lunch about a mile from where we stopped the first day, and then trudged on through the mud, rocks , and leaves along the way, Tyler, Steven and Matt found a Ruffed Grouse, and someone found a red squirrel.

By the time we got back to the cars, it was about 4:00 in the afternoon and everyone was tired, so Mr. Hopper, Mr. McGimsey, and Mr. Duft bought everyone ice cream at Girdwood. The only problem was getting out of the cars. Everyone's legs were so tired, they got stiff and didn't want to move! It took a little while, but we got over it, and made it to the ice cream shop. After that, we rode back to the church, gave everybody their stuff, and rode home. I'm guessing that most people went home, hung up their wet stuff, took a shower, and went to bed. It was a fun trip.
